Subject: MTV, VH-1, and The Laugh
A few notes on several discussions: Re: MTV cutting off the ends (and beginnings) of videos. It is usually a result of whoever is doing the "live" editing. Sometimes the editors like to do all sorts of quick or "creative" segues between videos. Other times it appears they don't feel like it and let each video fade out before the next one starts up. Whenever I notice that the editor is getting "lazy", I pop in a tape just in case.... Re: VH-1 Artist spotlight times. They also have a 1pm EST slot each weekday for the Artist Spotlights. It appears that each show each day is a different one. Those on the West coast keep in mind that VH-1 does not have a West Coast feed (like MTV) so all times given are three hours later than PST. (two for mountain). Re; The Laugh Did anyone see the post I sent a while back comparing the times shown on the actual tape that Kate delivered to EMI? (Picture in the last KBC issue) The times shown there would indicate that "the laugh" did indeed belong to "Love and Anger". A Final note on MTV, I have definitely seen "Love and ANger" on there more than any other Kate video ever before (about four times was the max for "Big Sky" and "Experiment IV"). Some of the VH-1 Artist Spotlight shows I saw this weekend did show two-three almost complete videos in each show. Hopefully, this special is also intended for airing in Europe and will include videos not shown in the US yet.
