Subject: Elle est venue comme un chat, par la nuit si noir...
Just a quick note. IED received the "first" issue (called #1, but apparently the follow-up to issue #0) of the new French Kate Bush/Peter Gabriel fanzine, "N'Abandonne pas", today. It's inexpensively made, entirely from xeroxes of computer printouts, with a bunch of reproductions of snapshots of Kate from the November 1986 video party and from TV appearances. There is a very nice account of Fanch's trip to England for the party, and a re-print (in English) of an article by every oldtime U.S. KT fan's old friend Gillian Gaar (erstwhile editor of long-defunct fanzine For the Love of Kate) which was originally published in Goldmine 11/04/86. There are two other pieces in English. Despite its low-budget format, the new French fanzine is very attractive and well organized and filled with facts and ideas about Kate (and Peter). There is a strong effort throughout to bridge the geographical gaps that separate the fans and the fanzines, and the tone is friendly and light-hearted. At the end, a number of the KT fanzines are listed with their addresses, including that of the Japanese KT fan club, whose address IED has wanted for a long time. If any of the L-Hs can read/write any French at all, this fanzine is highly recommended. Even if you're not a Francophone, you can still write to them in English -- they're ready to publish any letter with pertinent info, whether in French or English.
