As stupidly as one would expect of MTV, the evil television station
did not put "Don't Give Up" on their "New Video Hour" this week,
but DID put it on during normal programming. It was shown at least
once yesterday, between 5 and 6 p.m. Pacific time, and was listed
as an "MTV exclusive", meaning that the bastards are holding on
to it for upwards of two weeks so that no-one else can play it
even though they won't play it either...Just like those evil
U.S. record companies and their imports policy. BASTARDS!!!

Anyway, the video is very very low-budget, simple and minor,
but it works pretty well. Kate and Peter sing as though to each
other, while embracing each other. The video shows them standing
on a hill with the sun behind them. Then the camera zooms in
on their heads, and the sun gets much bigger. While they sing,
the sun goes into eclipse. During the bridge section
("Rest your head...I can't take anymore!" etc.), the eclipsed
sun has a bunch of sunstorms around the corona (?). At the end,
the camera backs off again to the shot of Kate and Peter standing
on the hill together. That's all there is to it. But Kate does a
good job of ignoring the camera and living her role. Gabriel does
a good job of neglecting to shave for a couple of days.
