Re: IED's recurrent thought Just for the record, if IED posted that in rec.music.misc, his ass would have been flamed so bad he could bring Lake Titicaca to a boil by sitting in it... SNAKEFINGER's VESTAL VIRGINS/SHARK UNDER TOE in Champaign Shark is a local 4-piece with sax/flute. A few neat songs, excellent Stones cover, funky bass, not terribly special but worth watching. I can't get too excited about Snakefinger's records, but he is great live. (We got yelled at for wandering in during the sound check, but hey, the club was open then.) Vestal Virgins is Eric Drew Feldman on keyboards and sampling thingie (emulator?), John Ryan on drums and Ben Guy on bass. Very tight, great playing of fairly complex pieces and Snakefinger's occasional snide remarks were hilarious (even an obligatory Oral Roberts reference). Started with Yeti, Who Are You, some wild blues-flavored solos that got a little long near the end, and lots of the quirky, humorous material that's his trademark. (They did a version of the theme from Fellini's 8 1/2 that's also on the album during the soundcheck, but didn't play it later on. Sympathies to John and everybody else who missed it. :-)) Bill
