Well I had never heard anything by the Bobs, and indeed,
knew nothing at all about them before the concert started.
But when Peter and Michelle drag me to a concert, you KNOW it's
going to be interesting, to say the least.
And of course, it *was* that... For those uninitiated, The Bobs
are an a capella group who do quirky original songs, and some
cover tunes that are flat out hilarious. Their cover of
"Psycho Killer" (yes *THAT* one) starts off almost like the
original, but quickly progresses (degenerates?) into a doo-wop
version with Matthew Bob singing a stupid, lounge-lizardesque,
vocal. Their original songs are equally funny, with such great
tunes as "Welcome To My Fog" (about spacy people) and "Party Trained"
which featured three levels of audience participation.
I haven't heard their album, so I can't comment on that, except
to say that they were extremely funny live performers, and I can't
see an album capturing all their stage presence. Check them out
if you get the chance, you won't regret it (Thanks, Peter & Michelle!)
