consensus on best of 1986

I enjoy discovering new music, but I'm not a big record buyer
(I usually opt for food and clothing instead). I have seen
about a million albums recommended in this group, of which
I've only purchased a few (loved some, very ambivalent about
others).

Anyway, I was wondering if people would be willing to send
me their recommendations for (the) 5 1986 albums I should have.
If I get a few replies, and there is any sign of consensus,
I'd be happy to post the results.

Someone a while ago was making a "new" music sample tape. Is
this still available? (Is the individual still free and at large?)
