Subject: Soft Boys "Can of Bees" album
Okay, having grooved to "Underwater Moonlight" I today went out and bought the only other Soft Boys album I could find, "A Can of Bees". The rather sparse info on the cover and label gives 1984 as the copyright date (actually it says (p)1984, I've never been sure of what the p-in-a-circle means). But I thought the Soft Boys broke up in 1980 or so? At least, that's when Robyn Hitchcock started releasing solo albums. And the music on this sounds rawer than "Underwater Moonlight". So can some Soft Boys / Robyn Hitchcock guru enlighten me? A discography would be appreciated, too. (Oh yeah, bought "Talking Heads:77". Nothing special to report. The guitars sound nice. I now have the *real* version of Psycho Killer on disc. (Y'know, my friends all like that song but they've only heard the "Stop Making Sense" version. Nowhere near as good. Doesn't even have a bassline. Hurm.)) --Peter Alfke alfke@csvax.caltech.edu "All aboard Brenda's iron sledge Please don't call me Reg It's not my name..."
