Oh darn Well, I've been wrong before but I just got finished listening to a taped interview w/ Sonic Youth and they claim to have come up with the "Youth" moniker before they ever heard of hardcore. Still, Thurston said the lead singer from Faith ( a d.c. hardcore group) was a prime influence in his later work. Also, he dug the spirit of the movement with band members circulating through the audience (and not sequestering themselves in dressing rooms w/ lines of coke) and the doggedness of making each song say something (As I said before). Oh well, guess I'm the "testestain" afterall. Anyone want a copy of this interview? It's being transcribed for the d.c. period, btw, so you can see it eventually. Jim Testestain...
