Following comes from a person who wishes to remain anonymous: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Severed Heads/Skinny Puppy, 12/11, the Stone, SF, CA, USA Severed Heads sucked. Dull discodirge, uninspired video. Dumb. Not worth further comment, just two guys to avoid in the future. Skinny Puppy also sucked, although at least somewhat harder. This band consists mainly of masses of carefully ravaged moussilated hair and, of course, ever-present fog effects. They do a fair job of manipulating their sound, but the music is as predictable and uninteresting live as on vinyl. I must admit, I did admire the singer's lean arm musculature, however, arms do not make a band, especially when their owner seems all too vainly aware they are a major feature of his stage presence. The performance was contrived and without substance. I have seen better attempts at macabre presentations by freshman art students, which isn't saying much for the art students. Even the most wavoid deathclones looked more bored than their usual posed attempts at vacuity. The high point of the evening was a between-set showing of gorgeous videos of SRL. I'd like to see what that gang would do with a couple of synthesizers...
