There are five major different standard labels on the vinyl discs. They are
named as following:
- yellow label
- yellow label with black printing, 'Kate Bush' is mostly in script style,
but not always. It's mentioned if it's not script style. Around the edge
there's usually a red printing about ownership and rights on the recording.
These labels are usually 'Made in EEC' and occur since the Hounds of Love
album (as well as on rereleases)
- orange label
- orange/brown label with big red EMI on one half and black printing on
the other half of the label. This is the earlier European label for Kate
discs from EMI, Japanese discs with this label are brown, Belgium discs with
this label are intense orange.
- black label
- black label with silver printing. This kind of label can usually be
found on British releases
- grey label
- grey label going from dark grey at the top to light grey at the bottom.
There's a rainbow colored EMI America logo on the top and another
silver-brown EMI America logo on the right. The printing is black. This can
be found on most EMI America (USA & Canada) releases
- silver label
- silver labels with black printing. Usually found on French 7"
vinyls. The usual sentence about copyright etc is in the vinyl directly
around the label itself.
Other labels are described when they occur. "xxx/yyy labels" means
that the label is of colour xxx and the printing on it is of colour yyy.

- paper
- a white paper inner sleeve
- plastic
- a plastic inner sleeve
- p&p inner
- a white paper inner sleeve laid out with plastic
Other inner sleeves are described when they occur.

- break hole

Japanese vinyl discs often have a separate lyrics sheet with Japanese and
English lyrics, another picture, maybe an article in Kanji and credits or so.
This is abbreviated as J-E lyrics sheet
Back to Quick index
type 'G' is like a normal thick jewel pack with the insert opening to the
right.
type 'E' the insert opens to the left,
type 'S' the insert opens on the back. (The uppercase letters do represent
the way the plastic is wrapped.)

This part will explain the codes used in the Discography to you.
Numbering scheme:
a.b.c.d.e, with:
- a = category:
- 1 = album
- 2 = single/EP
- 3 = related work
- 4 = sampler
- 5 = bootleg
b = title:
- Album
- 1.1 = The Kick Inside
- 1.2 = Lionheart
- ...
- Single
- 2.1 = Wuthering Heights / Kite
- 2.2 = Wuthering Heights / The Man With The Child In His Eyes
- ...
- Related work
- 3.1 = Lesley Duncan: Sing Children Sing / Rainbow Games
- 3.2 = Peter Gabriel: Games Without Frontiers / Lead a Normal Life
- ...
- Samplers
- 4.1 = Poslushaj muzgku (flexidisc) [Russian blue flexi w/ Babooshka]
- 4.2 = 4 Successos Vol IV
- ...
- Bootlegs
- 5.1 = Kate Bush Fan Club EP
- ...
c = format.
- Numbering scheme changes from title to title. Within one title, all items
on the same kind of material (e.g. all 7"'s, or all LPs, or all CDs etc.)
have the same number at this position.
d = country.
- Numbering scheme changes. Cover takes precedence if different from media.
If cover isn't known, media is used. If both are unknown, the item is listed
under a separate country entry. If just the general origin is known, it's
listed under that country ('UK' instead of 'UK/UK' for example).
e = sequence number.
- Lists various items with no other apparent difference in the above numbers.
- a.b.c.d.1 = 1st entry,
- a.b.c.d.2 = 2nd entry...
